Now-a-days many
restaurants and pubs ask for the driver’s license and then they use driver license
scanner to retain a copy of the data available on the card.
Most of these people
feel unsecured as their personal details might be used by hackers for their advantage.
Or it can be passed on to marketing companies that can use it for promoting
their products and bothering them. While working on a project I had the
privilege of interviewing the general community and knowing their views on
whether they agree to produce their personal details at pubs and restaurants or
they mind it. To my utter surprise most of the people did not mind as they
perceived it necessary for security reasons. Some of them did object only to
details like how many drinks they have per week and what was their preferred
brand etc.
I was startled
at the understanding level of public. With the passage of time the thought
process of public has matured immensely.
